Oda was one of several comic creators who were the basis of the characters in the line-up on the cover of Justice Traps the Guilty #56 (November 1953). This cover was by artist Marvin Stein & the five suspects are Oda, Joe Simon, Joe Genola, Mort Meskin and Jack Kirby.

Today is the birthday of prolific comics letterer Ben Oda (Dec. 21, 1915-Nov. 18, 1984). Of Japanese-American ancestory, he was a paratrooper in the Army in World War II. He is most remembered today for his work with Simon & Kirby, with Harvey Kurtzman at EC Comics, & his many years at DC Comics.
