No need to imagine. The country incarcerates children as young as 9 years old daily in youth prisons and jails. Those children are routinely sexually and physically assaulted and also emotionally tortured. They are fed terrible food and given barely any education. This country has done this for yrs.

I know too much about what we do to incarcerated children in the U.S. I started and ran an organization focused on this for almost 15 years. Immigrant children are being treated terribly.

It didn’t start there. They were open about attacking Bloggers/ tumblrs and others with “SJW” and protect our discourse “ Black female professors were getting dinged as early as 2007 and attacks on ethnic studies ramped up in 2009 . Black women have been clear about this for years

Something I've been trying to impart on people is that the ICE occupation in Minnesota is both an ethnic cleansing and an ideological terror campaign. It's clear that the second part has utterly failed; the community is not terrified. But ICE is now desperately trying to salvage the first part.

Once again: Focusing on their lack of training is a mistake. With "better training," their violence would simply cost more, and they would still kill whoever they wanted, but make it look more professional — to make people more comfortable, the way many of you are at ease with local police violence.

The other thing that happens tho is that a large number of white people from the neighborhood show up to observe. Literally the only thing that gives ICE goons pause is white people from the community watching them. That’s why every school has parent patrols and vulnerable places ask for observers.

Anyone who is part of the federal government who is not doing everything in their power to stop this administration, regardless of the assumed cost to normalcy or career, is a coward and a collaborator.

Part of the issue is that those most actively protesting and leading mutual aid are women and gender non-conforming people. Both groups are illegible to many as protesters. This helps explain the invisibilization of current protests and resistance.

lrts— “Don’t point out antiblackness or white supremacy or you’ll discourage people from direct action” is sloppy praxis and I think a lot of you know that. Meeting people where they are ≠ never challenging them to think more deeply, and again— I think a lot of you all know that.

Rapid response teams in the Chicago area continue to report ongoing ICE activity, especially on the south side. One team is reporting kids & an adult taken this a.m. near 64th & Champlain. Another team reported witness sightings today of multiple agents, though no detainments, by 88th & Baltimore.

And Black people on here aren't even saying "no," they're just saying "if you want to convince me we're on the same side, show me you're on my side too and don't just want me on yours." And white commenters keep coming back with "how selfish of you, and how foolish."

This is the key thing that white commenters keep refusing to understand or at least acknowledge: "can we just team up until the fascism is over" isn't cool to say when half the people saying it don't mean the part where YOU are in constant danger, just the part where THEY are in danger.

I need a whole lot of you to sit with why it is imperative that folks be working from what YOU perceive to be the same INTERNAL process, experiences , to achieve a goal or share space and equity As opposed to going “Who is here , what do we want, what are our limits and what do we need”
