New— An American citizen boarding flight from Boston to Lisbon just now told me after showing boarding pass, every passenger stopped on jetway by two ICE agents demanding to take their photo. When passenger asked why, ICE threatened to detain them. If they said no photo, couldn't board/TBD detained.

Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.

This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.

I think this is probably something they think will chill dissent but the number of people in Minneapolis that have basically responded to DHS occupation by saying “I’m willing to die for my cause, are you?” makes me think this will not work

Dismantling DHS is an entirely achievable goal for Democrats at this point. You can have Fox yell at you for being a radical leftist or whatever, but you're going to have endless images of paramilitary goons assaulting people on TV, and voters will associate you with wanting to end that.

I can’t emphasize enough how shocked my out of state friends and family are when I tell them what has happened in Minneapolis since Renee Good’s murder. Without reliable media, most not-chronically-online people are completely in the dark. If you want to help Minnesota, tell people what you know.
