As usual with this issue, Harris is calling for a compromise that already exists. Every sporting body has standards for how long athletes must be on hormones before they can compete as women. The problem isnât that weâre ignoring âreasonable concerns,â the problem is that republicans are lying.

Democrats: Oh this issue where the vast majority of people like it? We should compromise and help kill it. That is just good strategy. We wouldn't want to be seen as *shudder* progressive. And what's a few more thousand dead, really? When you think about it. Please give us between 5 and 50 dollars.

I really and truly need people to understand that a chatbot does not and cannot know anything. Like, I need them to understand that in their bones. It is very good at looking like it knows something, but it does not and cannot know anything.

It absolutely makes sense that men are using AI more and seeing more job benefits, because confidently spouting nonsense in the shape of information (what LLMs are programmed to do) has always been much more of a pathway for career advancement for men than for others.

Even assuming an LLM stumbled into a revolutionary scientific discovery, it would only be an untested hypothesis. A lack of hypotheses is not science's problem - it's $$ for the research to test those hypotheses that's sorely needed. And, that's being cut to fund LLMs.
