What's ominous is all of the trusted women of color who know a lot about AI are saying that a crash is on the way and the white guys are pretending they are taking it to the moon. This means that a crash is definitely on its way.

The 1980s Mapp & Lucia series, with Geraldine McEwan, Prunella Scales, and Nigel Hawthorne, is probably the finest long-form comedy I've ever seen (dozens and dozens of times), and I have no fear at all that I'm overselling it.

👋 I'm hoping to put together a panel for the SHA 2026 Annual Meeting. My paper would analyse Dwight Eisenhower's 1962 visit to South Carolina and assess his (post-presidential) relationship with southern Republicanism. If that fits with your panel ideas, please do get in touch! 🗃️

The military has a duty to refuse unlawful orders, but Congress has a duty to remove from office a president and secretary who would issue such orders. There is something off about members of Congress talking about the former while refusing to say the latter, the part that's actually their job here.

This seems huge, and deserves more attention. SCOTUS has gone out of its way to make it harder to sue Fed law enforcement for damages when they trample—sometimes literally—on your rights. Illinois just made it so their resident can sue the Feds in state court. Feds fail us, states step up.
