Gonna be a bit of a dork about my newsletter for a moment, apologies in advance. BIG EGG currently has 72 paying subscribers. I would love to make it 100. There's a sale today where a one year subscription is $30, every bonus piece and feature included. Here's my pitch. š¤¼

one of the things i want people to understand is that the people ICE is targeting who you think should be "safe" are already vulnerable to this kind of treatment from the state in all of its guises. think kids who are citizens shouldn't be treated like this? got bad news for you about foster care.

We spent a year investigating billionaires for
@washingtonpost.com
. We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections ā 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features." There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

I cannot express how important it is for anyone going through a secured checkpoint like TSA to make sure thier phone is in BFU (Before First Unlock) mode. To enter this state: reboot your phone and don't unlock it. In BFU mode all data is encrypted and your phone requires a passcode to unlock.

Anyone whoās ever used emergency contraception or gains peace of mind by even having it on hand owes Dr Camp a debt of gratitude. What a force. (Also, I just learned one reason the FDA rejected it at first was that they said the name Plan B was too glib!) Great obitāno paywall.

outside of individual donations to gofundmes and such, one helpful destination for your money right now is this bond fund. everyone being released from broadview needs to pay $1500 bond, which is obviously insane. it's going to cost like $925k to successfully spring 615 people

Business rent is way too high on Mag (not Miracle) Mile so companies are just shuffling around. H&M moved two blocks down the road to save cash. He's blaming "murder and crime" in one of the safest parts of the city because the real problem is "landlords." Almost like that's the whole gambit.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!
