like we could keep hoping the system can police itself or we could look at the facts and focus… anywhere else

the law is a tool for maintaining the status quo. it is not going to save us. it does not matter who does the prosecuting or investigating because it is not going to bring us anything remotely like real justice and change.

💯 this. Pass the baton. Share advice. Offer material support. Don't tell people how it is or how to feel or what they have to do if you don't live there.

I've seen refugee aid efforts defeat multi-year occupations by regional / national police forces who deployed 30x the amount of resources. Hell I've been part of that. It is *very* possible. ICE's budget has a limit. Make them use it. ICE's morale has a limit. Make them lose it.

And when they do leave, Chicago in this case, make sure that our community care stays. Regional support networks should continue to help their peers recover in recently occupied cities. ICE gets no rest. We do.

This isn't a series of independent zero-sum games. We don't need to win every battle. We do need to exact a price every time they raid our communities. Reduce harm as much as you can. Make sure they leave more weary than they came. Trust that comrades in other cities will pick up the baton.

They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time. Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief. Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time. Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

With the enormous caveat that I neither fully trust the NYT nor expect DHS and Bovino to stick to anything they announce… This is useful to know, and very suggestive about their capacity.

Two Guantánamo Bay facilities (JTF Camp Six; Migrant Ops Center Main A) show up on the list. There has been some reporting that ICE has resumed detaining people at these locations for a few months, but it's the first time that I've seen them on the facility list in FY 2026.
