I hate when people say those first two quotes. Neither me nor any other trans person should be denied a long and fulfilling life so that future generations have it a bit easier. That's fucked up. Nobody asked to be born just in time to helplessly watch as their rights to exist are stripped away.

"Trans people will always exist." Cool. "They can't kill us all." Comforting. Yeah, transness will survive, but *I* want to survive, too, y'know? But also, survival and existence aren't enough for me anymore, and they shouldn't be enough for allies either. I want to see my trans friends thrive.

Here's why you should care about the trans athletes case today: Because if discrimination on the basis of gender identity doesn't violate equal protection, trans people can be segregated, outed, denied medical care, denied housing, denied jobs, and excluded by the government.

A Republican congressman vanished for months because he received a diagnosis for depression and he was allowed to heal, rest, and recover without losing his job, something that cannot be said about the millions of other Americans who also experience depression symptoms. We're asked to walk it off.

Well, we gave them a chance to fix their hearts.

While everyone's "all the love to trans folks" posts are nice and it is good to see support We have been getting them for a decade now. If you want to support trans folks, hire us. Support GFMs and asks for mutual aid. Put yourself between trans folks in public if you see harassment.

Kavanaugh's decision on trans people in sports contains a footnote saying it applies only to trans women, by the way. So trans women can be legally segregated (and his reasoning isn't limited to sports), but he explicitly says it doesn't apply to trans men in any gendered spaces at all.

As someone who has been struggling with this for months, if not years, without the ability to take any time off due to the crumbling economy and empty social safety net he helped create, I am torn between “glad you got the help you need” and “fuck off.”
