For years I've been looking for the right guest to do a pod on this. The car-sales model that is dictated by law in the US -- you must go to a dealership & suffer for hours in order to buy one -- is one of the most nakedly anti-social special interest giveaways in history. Needs to be killed dead.

i think there is an aspect of this which is true but honestly i think the *real* reason car dealers hate EVs is more boring: they all mainline fox news and talk radio and facebook all day and sincerely believe false negative things about EVs that oil companies have propogated through those channels.

This really is the thing about right-American Catholicism. It wants to be its own continental religion separate from Europe. Which is to say they’re not Roman Catholics. They’re costume Catholics. They like the tradition and set dressings because it’s all very proper. Not so much the actual rules.

This is not a 'masculinity crisis', it's a misogyny crisis. This is not a problem with 'masculinity'-- millions of men model positive masculinity every day. This is a problem of male violence. Stop calling it 'masculinity'.

I'm trying to express why I have such contempt for that man's expression of his so-called faith. I think every faith tradition has shitty people (and some shitty people were raised with no faith). But to willingly adopt another faith and publicly twisting that faith's interpretation such that /1

That two successive heads of that faith - in an intensely hierarchical structure - publicly call you out the way that you are misrepresenting that faith, and you 1. think this is subject for debate and 2. keep doing it and 3. monetize it in a fucking book. Yeah... I'm going to feel a kind of way

But the oversight power is “subject to several limitations.” And it is particularly limited when Congress directs the oversight power against the President, because unenumerated powers to regulate the President cannot be lightly inferred consistent with the separation of powers. Man, what??

The problem with platforms is that they're always advertised as "true freedom" Which always devolves into folks being assholes. The best moderation is 1. Treat everyone like adults, but you're not going to harass people. 2. None of us are dumb, so don't play dumb when given a temporary ban.

I dunno if prologues and epilogues are part of the main story but I do know a publisher should never own your IP. They are purchasing the right to publish your work as a book and that’s it and those rights should always revert back to you in the end and also no compete clauses are bullshit too.
