the clock is ticking. lawmakers have a narrow window to reverse course and fully restore the Strait. If that doesn’t happen soon, Americans will start changing their summer travel plans- and they will NOT forget why when they head to the polls in November.

quite clearly, there is no plan, this speech was hollow on addressing real challenges with the Strait, leaving it to others, and there is no reason to expect the Strait will reopen anytime soon. no plan- no concern- this will likely start to push oil prices back up.

Trump summary: Iran's military is completely destroyed, its nuclear programme is gone, the navy is obliterated. Regime change has occurred. But the war will need to continue for another 2-3 weeks because ????. And reopening the Strait of Hormuz is someone else's problem.

Struck by the fact that not once during oral arguments did anyone mention: - Immigration law says noncitizens are presumed to intend to reside in the US permanently, unless they prove otherwise. - H-1B visa holders, who by law are "dual intent" visa holders, and yet would be excluded under the EO.

I think some people misunderstood this exchange with Gorsuch. Under current law, Native Americans are NOT birthright citizens under the 14th A. They get it through a 1924 law. Gorsuch asked if the gov's argument was true, wouldn't they get citizenship under the 14th A, and the SG said probably yes.

And in horrifying news, Idaho's governor has signed the felony bathroom ban, with 5 year penalties for second offense bathroom usage, into law. This is the most significant criminalization of trans people to date. On trans day of visibility no less. It will require a new "Do not travel" warning.

Over and over the message this administration sends to federal employees is "Break the law, and so long as you're doing it to support our political causes, we'll let it slide." It is a recipe for corruption and impunity. Discipline has to mean something.
