As expected, ICE reached 2,000 active 287(g) agreements with today's additions (+15). Roughly 1,700 law enforcement agencies across 38 states, Guam + CNMI. 823 of 3,144 county-level governments in US + ~750 municipalities now participate. 1,873 of these agreements were signed after Jan 20, 2025.

I just feel like every person in this country needs to know DHS is now explicitly paying bounties to local cops and sheriffs for each child + teenager they track down on behalf of ICE. While I'm not an attorney, I don't use that language lightly.

ICYMI: In the past week, 7 Missouri counties have canceled their Jail Enforcement Model 287(g) agreements with ICE. Only one of those counties actually left the program though, while the other six consolidated around still-active Task Force and/or Warrant Service Officer agreements.

Seeing some cool discussion on W.E.B. Du Bois' data viz work this morning, and so I'll just add that he used infographics to illustrate complex, multilayered systems like institutionalized racism to the public. And he seems to have valued the design behind the charts as much as the data itself.

Despite the rain today, reports from this morning seem to hold up with this trend re: Wednesday activity. Someone was detained around 9:30am near Moos Elementary in Logan Square. Reports across the suburbs too, including 2 detentions outside the Bridgeview courthouse.
