Schumer was saying this back in March. It's still untrue. Nothing about a funding lapse authorizes any of this. They have no more legal power to do this tomorrow than they did last week. If they do, it's because they want to and can break the law with impunity, not because of anything Congress does.

Five days ago, an ICE agent shoved a woman asking questions about the detention of her husband. Today they attacked two journalists. We cannot accept or normalize what has now become routine violence at 26 Federal Plaza. It has no place in our city.

States need to start arresting federal agents. Let them fight this in court and see how they like it.
