I’m going to shut up about religion because it’s not my lane. But separation of church and state is crucial because otherwise there is hierarchy. One faith will be considered the faith, and all others beneath. It is fundamentally non egalitarian.

This does feel true in the U.S. When my older daughter was in a public preschool in Hartford, I objected to her teacher referring constantly to a supposed Santa Cam that was monitoring their behavior and a school trip to visit Santa. The principal made me seem mean and crazy for complaining.
