I frankly don't get what leverage Platner has here to insist on conditions for his replacement. Once he steps down, can't the state committee do whatever the law allows them? Is there any way for him to enforce any agreement he makes with the party?

My sister-in-law lives on Rota and is not well. Watching the coverage of Typhoon Bavi has been nervewracking, and we know we're unlikely to get any solid news from the island for days. So this is encouraging to see.

I haven't seen a lot of e-bike/e-moto stories focus on the aspect of mobility for kids and teens and it's really important! Kids want the freedom to move around their communities and they deserve to be able to do so safely.

This is actually something of a bright spot. In this climate, for the Maine Democratic Party to pick a replacement candidate by fiat would only compound the disaster they’re in. Holding a mini-convention sounds incredibly ungainly but is more likely to lend legitimacy to the process.

Huh. It turns out the HR Lady is there for a reason. And it's not so Graham Platner or his apologists can sexually assault her.

I want to re-emphasize one part of this Xbox story: Half of the 3,200 cuts are happening today and half are happening in the next 12 months. In other words, even people who survived today's layoffs will have to spend the coming year wondering if they're going to be next.

There's a part in the book "Careless People" where the author beats Zuck at Settlers of Catan, and he is absolutely wrecked by it. Someone pulls her aside to explain everyone else has been letting him win for years. I think about this a lot re: why tech bros think everyone will love AI chatbots.

A friend of mine elsewhere made a fantastic suggestion: in 13 years we do a Constitution 250 celebration. That gives us some time to work toward creating an environment where we can really celebrate.

This has been the most spiritually bankrupt celebration of anything I've ever seen and that's it, that's our 250th. We don't get to go back and redo it, this one's in the books: Temu Arch, cheesy architecture, horrible displays, AI everywhere. Far right propaganda. Jokes at our expense
