This was a favorite from Cefalu, Sicily last fall. I spent all day walking the city and while enjoying an espresso I got to see school pick-up where almost everyone arrived on foot, bike, or scooter to take home their kids. It's something I'd never see in my town.

I think it's telling how many people would see this and criticize the parents for letting a kid ride where it's dangerous instead of criticizing the leaders who created such unsafe roads. As a society we have accepted a system that creates danger for everyone not in a car.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a democratizing movement in the US that *didn’t* play constitutional hardball & *didn’t* break unjust laws. That’s literally what democratization is, though it makes some people uncomfortable. If you want a democracy, you have to break the undemocratic system.

The "momentum" framing is interesting. Republicans are still facing the same problems as a few days ago, they've just cheated their way into a stronger electoral position. This is a deeply unpopular party that is using voter suppression to try and cling to power. How is that momentum?

This is a great example of "blame inversion" (coined by @ashtonindc.bsky.social) where danger very clearly caused by cars is blamed on anything else: parents letting their kids play outside, kids riding bikes, etc.
