Doctor Who isn't a big sci-fi franchise, and trying to make it one ends up highlighting that fact. It doesn't need reinvented. Just go and find some guys who can look at an embarrassingly small budget and go "yeah, I can make an alien planet out of that" and make some fucking Doctor Who.

Launch a new crime drama on BBC 1, not too heavy, likeable comic actor in the lead (Jonathan Creek, Ludwig, etc.), set in the 60s. End of the series, he's shot. His body glows. He turns into Lydia West. The camera pans over to a police box which has been in every episode. It wheezes and groans.

I watched this yesterday, itʼs been chopped up inelegantly so itʼs best watched all in one go. But itʼs worth it! Three hours flies by in a lavish period revenge romp that could have come from Hollywood only everyone is French. It cost ⅛ the budget of the last Mission: Impossible yet feels richer.

I switched to Firefox on my phone last year and the difference between it and the inbuilt Samsung Internet app on this page makes me feel very good about that choice
