Been through a handful of Army Leader Professional Development trainings which could have been titled "why we shouldn't invade Iran" which largely consisted of someone slapping this map on a PowerPoint slide and pointing out that Iran has three times the land and twice the population of Iraq.

This is less about being anti data analysis and more about the way that the flippant attitudes of the people who deliver their analyses can be broadly alienating to people with qualitative experiences that don't match their findings. Their desire is to scold and feel superior, not to educate.

No no itâs perfectly fine that millions of people in the US are in debt for going to school and are underemployed and are downwardly mobile. Itâs fine that medical and credit card debt and car loans keep going up. Itâs fine that more and more of are wages are captured by capitalists and that

It's crazy how much sex trafficking there was during "Capitalist Shock Therapy". Like however much you're imagining, you're not imagining enough. Where do you think the first crop of Jeffrey Epstein's victims came from? Hundreds of thousands of children had their futures robbed from them.

The funny thing is, the chuds hate this version of the Odyssey because Nolan cast trans and non-white actors but if they actually were media literate, they'd hate this version of the Odyssey because it adopts their civilizational frame and then violently rejects *them* and their ideology.

Tbf, this was a core thematic element of the Iliad. The Earth shakes, and the rivers revolt against Achilles's slaughter of the Trojans at the end of the poem, and Homer continuously reinforces that the deaths leave homes cold and empty. It's not exactly a ringing endorsement of war.

I mean the reason this is so pernicious is that lying like this to an interview subject gives them in the untenable choice of either accepting the dishonest factual premise of the question or arguing over the facts (which accepts the false premise that what you said was objectionable if accurate)

Interestingly though, this is the first ever article to confirm that Biden's "red line" statement on Rafah was unplanned, he didn't tell anyone in the WH beforehand, and that he did not intend to enforce it in the way he initially articulated it. He ended up immediately re-authorizing 500lbs bombs.

The archaic greeks were not strangers, and that's why the classics interest us. If you're looking for amoral and emotionally curtailed (complimentary) warrior brutes in a society glamourising this, you won't find them there. You won't even really find them in Conan the barbarian.
