Wouldn't dare to give it up, but the very final needle drop in ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER has been seared into my head for the past 72 hours. (Complimentary.)

Ultimately decided against wearing a hat that said "Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die" on a commercial flight. (That's the name of the fun new Gore Verbinski movie, not some indie band too cool for me to be aware of.)

Welp, Covid got a hold of me at Fantastic Fest, killing my last two days there and causing me to miss a dear friend's premiere. I haven't been anywhere but home and the theater for 6 days, so I definitely got it there. If you're attending, get tested, think about masking, and avoid those w/symptoms.

Late to the party to say this but I just saw two Aussie horror films I LOVED - Together & Bring Her Back. I can remember a time when James Wan and I couldn’t get anyone from the film “funding bodies” in Australia to even look at us. Horror didn’t have a chance in Oz back then. How times have changed

The best part of my job is immersing myself in one subject for a time. I love the research, the fact-checking, the due diligence behind each publication. I often think of this quote from the late, great James Rocchi: “I write about movies. Which means, really, I get to write about everything.”

Survived my first musical improv show, and before you ask, yes, the team name "You and What Harmony?" was my idea (then voted on by others! See, democracy still works!).

film flubs: in the movie spartacus (1960), several different characters identify themselves as spartacus. this scene was mistakenly left in the final cut of the film

Was highly tickled by Splitsville. Between this and The Climb (regrettably released mid-pandemic), sign me up in perpetuity for all the affectionately dysfunctional screwball antics that these guys have to offer. Currently rolling out in release, should expand to most major markets by 9/5.

I think Graham Techler is one of the sharpest performers in NYC at the moment and love everything about this. (Was also admittedly oblivious to what this movie was actually about.)
