For homework purposes rewatching the notoriously troubled and therefore poorly received 2010 THE WOLFMAN. Which is of course actually pretty fun! Joe Johnston one of the great pinch hitters. Looks and sounds terrific. I proclaim it extremely sturdy and unfairly dismissed.

Rewatching PLAY DIRTY because I genuinely was not sure why I didn't love it and it's turning out that although it certainly has structural and formal issues the big problem is I cannot accept Wahlberg as Parker, nor can he do Black's dialogue.

The thing about ONE BATTLE for me is that PTA's characters' emotions and libidos supercede their politics. It would be very easy to make this a cast of allegorical/representational pawns. You can already see folks feeling uncomfortable about this!
