Europe being jointly attacked by America and Russia feels like somebody somewhere has fucked up somewhat, and we should be discussing which assumptions we made it is that have turned out to be disastrously wrong.

Being a British parent is so weird bc you're actually worried about paying the sky high rent/mortgage & getting GP appointments but the entire press keeps telling you you're worried there's a trans person or immigrant nearby & the vat on Eton means there'll only be two skiing holidays this year

Ian Austin was a Labour MP who spent the years 2015-19 furiously campaigning against his own party's leader because of alleged concerns about antisemitism. When his party lost the election, Boris Johnson made him a Lord. These are all plain facts and it's up to you what you do with them.

For non-Brits: one of these people has for years been held up as a lion of personal courage, bravely standing up to vicious bullies, and the other was denounced at astonishing intensity as a Stalinist thug imposing their crazy beliefs on others by force. Would you like to guess which is which?

racists roll their eyes at this, they're not happy with any message short of 'send them all back' & they don't trust labour trying to pander to them. people who aren't racist recognise this as divisive patronising nonsense. labour's approval rating is 12% and i'm surprised it is that high

Two things can be true; a party leader should know all about the budget deficit, and a previous member of the austerity government has no fiscal credibility and is in no position to lecture people about economics.

It is essential to remember that Sensible centrists got everything they wanted in the UK. The left smashed, their Competent Sensible politicians won by a landslide last year and have a huge majority and the policies they dreamed of implemented. And the result is endless horror.

While obviously Lammy's proposal of scrapping many jury trials is getting the headlines, it seems odd how little attention his proposal to scrap the automatic right to appeal is getting. That seems like quite a big thing to be honest, especially for poorer and more marginalised defendants.

4. You see, the problem is this: History Reclaimed donât know much about British colonialism. Theyâre not actually interested in it. They are a private company funded to prevent any truthful examination of the past that might challenge a right wing, white-centred version of the national story.

Reminder that when the Times had similar worries about Reform, its response was to give Farage this advice on implementation: "Removing a cityâs worth of people would be an extended exercise. Identity cards would be a must if the population was to be sieved into legitimate and illegitimate camps"
