12yo Oleksandra Polischuk died in the Russian night strike on Kyiv on 28 Sept. A student at School No.159, she had recently returned from Canada. Neighbors recall her as cheerful and active, playing sports and studying English. Her classmates continue to bring flowers and toys to her home. RIP

At today's meeting with the EU Commission and @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu, NATO SecGen Rutte also highlighted the good cooperation between NATO and the EU and strongly welcomed the EU's drone wall initiative - in which NATO also participated as an observer.

NATO SecGen Rutte is literally taking part in the EU Commission meeting where these proposals are being adopted, as they are carefully coordinated with NATO. Stop falling into the intellectual drop of playing NATO and EU against each other in defence, when they are complementary.

Is there a reason I ask that the Times are using a picture of asylum seekers in a boat to describe rules for migrants who came on legal routes such as skilled worker visas for doctors?

One of the things about @ezraklein.bsky.social’s pod with T-N Coates is that Klein talks of a glory days in 2008 when Dems controlled Congress etc but this was a super narrow control which lasted by narrowest margins in the Senate until 2014 and had already gone by 2010 in the House. 1/2
