One of the many reasons that WFH actually increases my productivity is that when my kid is home sick from school with relatively mild viral symptoms, I can work while she watches TV and makes some Play-Doh creations. If I had to be in the office, I’d have to take the whole day off.

The visual clutter is due to the HTA where every intersection needs signage. If the province would amend the default speed limit to 30 all the streets not signed would become 30. (ie all residential streets) We will see what the reduced speed neighbourhood pilot report says, if it ever comes out.

I’m totally with you on Westminster. I feel we missed an opportunity with a full length separated bike lane on Wolseley. It was a great chance for a “proof of concept/example of best practice” that some folks need to see.

When I went to Laura Secord (in the 60's) everyone walked to school. Wouldn't if be nice if we slowed all streets down to 30 kph (and started adding infrastructure changes) so that all kids could once again walk or ride to school. @safespeedswpg.bsky.social

Yep--Westminster is very dangerous at rush hours, particularly from 4 to 6, with people racing between (or ignoring) stop signs and just overall being aggressive.

Personally, I would focus on other neighbourhoods/school areas that could use help in improving safety for kids. Or even on Westminster Avenue, which is my next goal. We’ve got it pretty good here in Wolseley.

Wolseley Avenue has 30 km, speed tables, narrowed and raised intersections at all three schools, light crosswalks, and a speed reader at Mulvey. Laura Secord doesn’t allow drop-offs on Wolseley to reduce traffic and improve safety. My kid’s been walking to/from Laura Secord alone since he was 8.
