As a public service, I am reading Scott Beardsleyās book on higher education. Just as Beardsley sacrificed a lucrative career at McKinsey to take a $700k a year job as Dean of Darden on his way to the very sketchy appointment as UVA president, I paid $12 for the kindle edition of āHigher Calling.ā

The beginning of Ramadan & Lent coincide this year. I like the idea that Muslims & Christians all over the world are entering these seasons of prayer, reflection, penitence, & fasting at the same time. I hope it's a sign of better days to come. Ramadan Mubarak. Have a blessed Lent.

Gurley is doing some serious false equivocation here. CEA did the homework to understand the bargaining process and CCS leadership did not. Both sides actions reflect this. CEA stayed faithful to CCS employees, while CCS leadership was angry, petty, uninformed, and out of touch.

There are still National Guard at some DC Metro stations and itās so pathetic. They get dropped off in a van, stand around looking at their phones for 8 hours, then get picked up again by the van. Itās not even security theater at this point, just money being lit on fire.

I think it's worth pointing out that in 3 of the last 5 years, winter storms have made significant portions of Charlottesville's transportation infrastructure unusable and/or unsafe for weeks. The city, county, and UVA need to adjust to respond more effectively.

I'm at the Albemarle County Planning Commission meeting to speak in favor of a ~20 unit infill development in Crozet. Staff hasn't recommended approval of the rezoning request. The 6 unit/acre density is consistent with the Crozet Master Plan, but staff is concerned about poor street connectivity.
