This is David Marsh. He went to my old school. He is one of the small number of European troops who went to Afghanistan and never did much nor went to the front line according to Donald Trump. He died in 2008 aged 23 in Afghanistan when the patrol car he was in was blown up in Helmand Province.

No, I don't want to "quickly hop on a call with you". I want to bump into you at random on a rain-lashed heath, nod at you in silent mutual admiration as we watch a buzzard gliding smoothly over a dramatic chicane in the river, then get the fuck on with my day

A view on the US from Greenland: âWe do not want to be rich like Americans. Look how greedy they are, even trying to invade their friends. We would not sell ourselves. We know what happened to Indigenous people in Alaska and Native Americans. Their land was taken, and they were not treated well.â

The world knows the US is being run by a madman. An immature, hateful, greedy, racist, in fact. The saddest part is we do not have a single branch of government functioning in the people's interest. The world's once great democracy is no more. It is our struggle to get control and rebuild.

They're good questions. I think re Russia, the answer is just "yes". With America, the answer is less "are we getting ready to fight America" and more "we need to invest to ensure our military and intelligence can operate as independently of America as possible"

We've spent ten years being proved right about all the things the loudest, biggest voices in the UK media insisted, often obnoxiously, we were wrong about. The real kicker is that there's no consolation whatsoever in being correct. Brexit, Putin, Johnson, Truss, Trump, Twitter, Netanyahu etc etc...

The UK was better off in the EU and Europe was better off with the UK in it. All of this Trump driven chaos underlines that and you can practically hear Putin rubbing his hands in Moscow. WE have deliberately weakened ourselves, our security and our region for absolutely no good purpose at all.

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition, The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance Iconic imo

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing theyâre doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isnât white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
