As I was finishing up a walk earlier, I looked toward downtown and this is what I saw. My campaign logo includes an apple tree both because of the apple's symbolic tie to education and because learning requires a connection to the natural world with an understanding practicing stewardship.

Trump’s attacks on our Somali neighbors here and nationwide hurt our city deeply. We must continue to stand with our neighbors against the hateful lies and xenophobia that this hostile federal government keeps spreading. In Minneapolis, we love and support our Somali neighbors!

While I'm glad that the district was able to come up with a budget for the next year, I continue to be troubled by the way the budgeting process has been conducted. I look forward to providing additional targeted oversight of the budgeting process & building the stability our community deserves.
