books can have prose that implies meaning that the book's narrative or characters aren't congruent with. Movies can have music and cinematography that directly contradict the stated dialogue (my favorite example of this is Zack Snyder's Watchmen)

Anyway, the big TTRPG thing I want to drill into everyone's head is there is no distinction between narrative and mechanics because TTRPGs tell their stories with mechanics. If there is a separation, then the game's fucking up and needs to be redesigned. This happens in other artform!
