attempting to use tiktok, i guess to touch base with my generation (sarcastic), but the absolute whiplash between history content comments on there is bizzare. Either someone saying "that's not true" to a historical fact that opposes a common myth, or someone coming in with very detailed sources.

My mothership solo rules are pretty extensive and well designed but progress has slowed because 1. prioritising writing over game design atm (so many projects omgg) and 2. my brain has really fixated on wildcourts, my chivalric romance ironsworn "hack"

One of the issue i have with "rulings not rules" is that, from other type of games, when i dont understand a rule or the book doesnt explain itself well then I search it up online. If online sources are contradictory, or tell me to make it up, that hurts a lot. (addendum: i prefer rules lite games)

I think I truly am blessed to just Love Games. Some parts of the hobby have a tendency to pick a type of game to declare as the best, or the worst, or "not a game," and I'm just like...TTRPGs have more in common with each other than not. Even disparate games have significant overlap.

Everything about my life stemmed from my dislike of initiative in ttrpgs. Like obviously, games are allowed to abstract the world, but its very weird that the same people who cry at abstracted social rules feel no sense of oddness with initiative. They're the same thing.

On a more positive note; The Orbital Blues solo game (I dont know if you can call it a mode) is so fucking genius, its fucking awesome. Particularly how making poker card hands is both thematic *and* adds in tactile interaction.

There's this one person who makes digital solo rules for many games and they are so practicly fucking useless; each one is fairly identical no matter how differeing each games is; a bunch of waffle followed by an oracle. Its no surprise they even mention using Gen Ai to solo games with, its all slop

i hate in games when movement is always given in combat and never an interesting choice ~ how is movement any different, and not even more risky, than many other actions? Why cant an archer staying back and not moving, take that same moment to aim for a surer shot, as her allies push forward?
