RIP to Sam Neill—one of the greats. He made some brilliant contributions to the horror genre with IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, POSSESSION, and EVENT HORIZON. I've always found his performances to ooze with charisma and tension. His presence will be greatly missed.

Happy birthday to Thomas Ligotti! I feel like my reading trajectory changed significantly after reading SONGS OF A DEAD DREAMER. And from there, I've only discovered more to love. To this day, "The Red Tower" remains my favorite weird horror story of all time.

Back Rooms was a disappoint for me. It felt like a concept in search of a story. There were lots of visuals and set design to appreciate, but ultimately, it just didn't have the fundamentals of what makes an interesting story.

Tbf sometimes we do love a pastiche—but most times, we'd rather see you being your cool, original self than echoing a more notable author.

964 Pinocchio is legitimately Weird. Charmingly low-budget, with an absolutely bonkers premise. Scenes go from absurdist to disturbing and back again. Recommended for fans of Tetsuo and real indie film making.
