I was surprised by how much I enjoyed THE LONG WALK. I've never read the book, but the movie was harrowing and brutal, with beautiful moments of humanity. Great performances throughout.

I didn't think I'd like it, as I was lukewarm on TALK TO ME, but BRING HER BACK was pretty great. Incredible performance from Sally Hawkins that was both terrifying and sad. A tense, suspenseful occult horror flick with some gruesome imagery.

Pictured: the dream. Any big spooky plans this autumn? Personally, I plan to hit up as many haunted houses and watch as many horror movies as money allows.

I don't know about all of you, but for my family, Halloween season starts in September. What's your first spooky read of the season? I'm going to be diving into Nestlings by Nat Cassidy.

I just read THE BIG ONE by CHM alum Patrick Barb and thought it was a very entertaining romp that combined Old Ones with what was essentially a disaster movie plot. Keep your eyes peeled for this one. Any indie horror books you dug recently?

My CHM story, "As Much As I Please," is one of my proudest stories to date. I envisioned it for almost a year before finally putting words to paper. I really hope you all love it.

I can already tell this movie is going to be divisive with some folks, but I wound up loving it. WEAPONS is a structurally refreshing horror flick with some great performances, and an unsettling villain. Anyone else dig this one?

Obligatory: not cosmic horror or weird fiction, but I really enjoyed this recently. Total pageturner of a thriller that gets surprisingly nasty. What have you been reading lately?

Did you know that two of the CHM team wrote a book together? Jolie Toomajan and Carson Winter teamed up to write an absolutely deranged haunted house mosaic novel called POSTHASTE MANOR. Check it out over at Tenebrous Press:

Let's give some love to new releases. What's the best horror book you've read that came out in 2025? These aren't out yet, but Straw World by Erik McHatton and Shoot Me in the Face on a Beautiful Day by Emma E. Murray would definitely be on my list.

Really enjoyed reading THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE by Mariana Enriquez this week. Dark, literary in the gothic tradition, with touches of the supernatural and cosmic. Highly recommended for fans of Jacksonian quiet horror.

What's your latest read? I've been enjoying Patrick Barb's NIGHT OF THE WITCH-HUNTER. Super fast-paced, fun, pulpy goodness. Like a novelization of a long lost direct to video 90s slasher.
