I just saw HOUSE (1977) for the first time, and it kinda blew my mind. It has the anarchic quality of Looney Tunes, with the surreal imagery of Lynch. There was no point in the film where I could guess how any scene would unravel. Brilliantly executed, fun, and unsettling.

Michael Wehunt's THE OCTOBER FILM HAUNT is SO good. Weird, meta, and well-crafted. Would love to see someone compare and contrast to how HORROR MOVIE by Paul Tremblay tackles similar themes of horror culture and nostalgia.

One of my latest watches was Friday the 13th VII: The New Blood. Was it good? No, not exactly. The story meanders, and the kills are truncated. But, the Jason makeup was really cool. It was interesting to see him become a straight up monster at this point in the franchise.

Our Halloween bingo has been going great this season. So far, these are the best and worst new-to-me flicks I've seen so far. Guess which is which.

I wrote my corporate tragicomedy "The Ones at the Top Didn't Fall There" during @clarionwest.bsky.social 2021 during an apocalyptic heat wave in tech bro-dominated Seattle. I proceeded to revise it for the next four years. Thrilled to see it in print and can't wait to read everyone else's work!

My wife and I get really into Halloween. This year we made bingo cards to change up our yearly viewings. We're drawing categories out of a hat, watching new-to-us horror flicks, and seeing who can get a bingo first! Recommended for those weirdos who like to go the extra mile!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed THE LONG WALK. I've never read the book, but the movie was harrowing and brutal, with beautiful moments of humanity. Great performances throughout.

I didn't think I'd like it, as I was lukewarm on TALK TO ME, but BRING HER BACK was pretty great. Incredible performance from Sally Hawkins that was both terrifying and sad. A tense, suspenseful occult horror flick with some gruesome imagery.
