I don't believe they were guilty of anything more than me—being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but now their lives will be altered forever.

When they brought me out for "processing" (fingerprints, mug shot) I was seated just outside their room. Several men came and stood at the one window in their room that hadn't been papered over. Watching. The looks on their faces were heartbreaking.

Reportedly some ICE detainees are held for days, even up to a week. Our room stank of sweat & pepper ball powder after just a few hours. Their room appeared dirty, filled with men dressed for labor, trying to get comfortable to sleep in chairs or on the cold floor in the cinder block room.

If anything good can come from my arrest, I hope it's that more people demand the shutdown of the Broadview ICE facility, where humans are treated like poorly kept animals. Stop the deportations. Demand the truth about Silverio's death at ICE's hands.

I feel like this needs to happen for people voicing support for ICE too. My family of origin was very good at just going along to get along for the vast majority of my life, and it created a dynamic where my dad felt completely comfortable lying to me for YEARS, to devastating consequence.

I can’t tell you how much good could be done right now by average citizens socially cold-shouldering anyone tangentially working for ICE.

Americans do understand gender-neutral bathrooms. I had to use a port-a-potty at an apple orchard last week and absolutely no one misunderstood or had a meltdown because the toilets weren't labeled MALE or FEMALE.

Happening now: at the Broadview ICE facility outside Chicago, Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino and other CBP/ICE agents emerge to patrol Beach Street and escort a vehicle out. They ordered people out of the street, walked to the end of it and then back to the fence.

I keep trying to write something but the only thing I can say is that this government wants to inflict as much pain on as many people as possible. Everyone at Broadview tonight is literally putting their lives on the line so that the world knows it.

Every single one of these clips was taken today in downtown Portland. Portland doesn’t want or need a federal takeover. If Trump insists on sending federal “resources” he can start with funding health care, bridges, affordable housing, and wildfire protection to name a few.

I'm glad to see House Democrats are pressing to get Rep-Elect Grijalva seated, because the fight over this is just a prelude to what the House Republicans will try in January 2027, when charges of "voter fraud" will lead to "serious questions" that will delay the seating of several new Democrats.

Well that's a relief.
