Book salespeople of bluesky! I need a publisher sales rep for an event in Spartanburg, SC in Nov. Would be great if they can talk up book club choices / romance / etc for spring 2026. Happy to put them up in a hotel if they're coming from more than a quick drive. Our couple of reps have conflicts.

Coming from the literary side, I couldn't disagree more. The short story writers I love--the ones who refuse to write the novel their agents tell them to write in favor of continuing to put out small collections of stories that, yes, will prob sell 700 copies--those are my most anticipated books.

That's a pretty nerdy, literary national book award longlist and feels much more Booker-y to me. Lots of small presses and lesser known stuff. It's been interesting to watch the booktok/bookstagrammers be pretty livid that they don't recognize many of the books. I think it's a great move.

This wild day started with doing a radio interview on statewide NPR to talk about Hub City Press's 30th anniversary and the importance of both books and public media. Proud to run a nationally recognized press that's grounded in its local community and more convinced than ever it's the way forward.

In better news! Today we announced a program to give local kids a free book of their choosing, so they can see themselves as readers and bookstore shoppers. Open to schools, community groups, shelters, and more. Named for our resident bookshop cat, Zora!
