So the reward for a company having an almost miraculously aspirational commercial and artistic year at the box office is to be bought by the one company with the most incentive (and seeming desire) to wipe movie theaters off the map? We’d almost be better off if Warner Bros.’s 2025 slate had tanked.

The Cold, Cruel Logic Behind Netflix Potentially Buying Warner Bros.
Buying one of the five remaining theatrical heavyweights for the purpose of removing the most aspirational theatrical distributor from the board would be in line with the streamer's recent history.

Have to admit it. "Alcoholic Fox News host uses US Navy to kill people at random on boats in the Caribbean because an extremist podcast producer asked him to, while Trump pardons drug dealer kingpins because a tech guy asked" is rather a lot darker than anything I imagined when he was reelected.

The Roberts Six have thoroughly politicized the Court and turned it into a reliable arm of the RNC. Democrats should have no reservations about calling them out for it, demanding resignations from these bought-off hacks and running on a promise to enact sweeping reforms.

the elevation of “separation of powers” as the paramount value of the constitution is just rhetorical justification for presidential dictatorship, since that is what you have when the legislative branch cannot constrain the exercise of executive power through law.
