I work about 20 minutes from the fire and the air was so bad today it was scary.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) is primarily designed to measure regional, ambient criteria pollutants over 24-hour averages. It is drastically underrepresenting what residents from Ventura to Long Beach are experiencing for several reasons, importantly that AQI does NOT measure large ash particles.

This is a 500,000 square foot cold storage facility packed with foam insulation, with huge onsite coolant tanks. Because the plume is traveling in low lying bands, it often slips between the district's AQI sensors (which are designed to measure passive pollution, NOT critical emergencies).

The contamination and pollution from the fire in Boyle Heights is much, much worse than Los Angeles political leaders are admitting to. This is a huge scandal. So many people are getting genuinely sick.

A lot of the worst people I know are fathers, of course they get a holiday.

I don’t care about the algae in the reflecting pool but I guess I’ll have to wait till you all get this out of your system.
