I finished Karen Hao's "Empire of AI" today - 10/10 would recommend - and I appreciate the emphasis on an ecological approach to teaching about (and, I'd argue, against) AI, including the technology's political economy and the ideologies of Big Tech's leaders that shape the technologies.

This afternoon they seem to be trying to walk it back and say the EO only applies to new visas. Would you stake your job, your ability return to your family, your freedom not to end up in CECOT on hasty clarification emails to news outlets and ICE’s willingness to follow them instead of the EO?

I have to keep this deliberately vague, but this is a total disaster for academic research. And imposing it so suddenly is just cruel. I’ve got friends scrambling to get back to the US before midnight tonight. Do you know how hard that is to do on 36 hours of notice?
