Yeah, the funny thing is, Sarwar is completely justified in saying that Starmer has to go, it’s just that the trigger (Mandelson) makes him look like a hypocrite because he praised the appointment at the time.

Sarwar would not be calling for Starmer to go without dispensation to do so. He’s not got the wherewithal. Which means it has already been decided that he’s going, sooner rather than later, and they’re trying to manage it in such a way as to give ScotLab distance and something to salvage.

The FT’s evisceration of Mandelson is an entirely reasonable and proportionate response to someone raising their voice in the quiet carriage.

Sarwar here saying the Scottish Government has been distracted by "culture wars", but also that trans women should be excluded from women's spaces "in services, in sport and in everyday life" - one of the more expansive descriptions of a trans ban we've heard from a mainstream politician.
