"people's feelings of life satisfaction are based more on relative status than absolute status" is a basic precept I learned in first year psychology or sociology at uni, I'm not sure why economists find it so hard to understand

Three and half years ago, 21 Labour MSPs (including Anas Sarwar) voted to pass the Gender Recognition Reform Bill which would have granted self-ID rights (but the UK Tory government blocked it). Now, the anti-trans Scottish Labour want to eliminate trans integration, safety and privacy altogether.

Actually this seems like the manifesto of a party that knows they won't be in power. The NHS wards policy is impossible to implement - maybe concentrate on getting people out of corridors and into wards in the first place!

Part of the reason Labour won't say they'd like to rejoin the EU is prooobably that they spent so long shouting at Scots that if we left the UK it'd take us decades to get into the EU, on terrible terms, etc. Might make them look a bit dishonest if they now claim the UK can walk straight back in.

Laughing at Will Hutton's article in the Observer cos it's just like "everyone I disagree with (from left-wingers to Polanski to Farage to Trump to Netanyahu) is a catastrophist, which is bad. I have blind faith our institutions with survive and defeat fascism, because I am a Sensible."

In France, legislation came into effect recently for all car parks that have over 80 spaces to be covered with solar panels. Estimated to add around 11GW of renewable energy capacity to the national grid. Why not do likewise in Scotland? Braehead, Silverburn, Glasgow Fort etc.

it's pretty poor to put out a political survey that asks for voting intention and doesn't prompt for the SNP or Plaid Cymru. Comes across extremely England-centric. No Northern Irish parties either.

Can't stress enough how dishonest and opportunistic these people are. 'Cass review is unimpeachable' until Cass calls for a puberty blockers trial, then suddenly it's not. 'Women's organisations all oppose trans rights' until some support them, then suddenly they should be defunded etc. etc.
