Is there ever going to be a significant political force in the UK again actually arguing for personal freedom and civil liberties in any way? I don't agree with a SM ban, but that's not really my specific issue, but all of our mainstream politics is just endless bans and crackdowns.

I see all the "I'm centre left, honest" journos are pushing the term "anti-bedtime left" to dismiss anyone to the left of them - suppose that was the next logical step along from "student politics"

Yes it is! If it's something 999 people out of 1,000 don't do, and you do a hit piece on a politician for not doing it without mentioning that, it's still a smear

Not only was this ridiculous as an argument for NFTs but it's also how eg Doctor Who has always worked. Terry Nation owned the Daleks, Kit Pedler the Cybermen, other writing teams the Brigadier, K-9, the Sontarans. No NFTs needed, just an invention called a "contract".

I'm not sure what a parliamentary inquiry into Murrell's embezzlement could possibly achieve - I get the feeling those calling for it are just super mad that this hasn't affected the SNP as badly as they think it should.

This is a very good piece on police interviews and the right to silence in Scots law (which - online know-alls please note - is not the same as in England), with reference to Nicola Sturgeon's decision not to answer police questions.

I think people forget the “you can’t change your sex” slogan is a newer line of GC rhetoric with only recent purchase. For nearly a century “sex change” was an accepted term, and while deployed clumsily and poorly, it was also understood as a reality the nuances of which were largely irrelevant.

The new EHRC Code of Practice is not fit for purpose. It does not provide clear guidance or do enough to protect everyone from discrimination, and it is not compatible with longstanding British values.

I hear the bad place is in meltdown because they’ve realised men in M&S might see a bra on his way to get a tie and something, something ‘SAFEGUARDING’ apparently. It must be exhausting to spend your life doing this. Wait until they realise how many period products men could see near ‘PARACETAMOL’

It probably says something about Scottish politics that Sturgeon's three biggest "scandals" are - cutting contact with her friend and mentor when she found out he was a sex pest - having a husband who was a crook - not suddenly u-turning on trans rights like every other mainstream politician did
