Reform will apparently pledge today that they'd abolish indefinite leave to remain - including retrospectively, to people already granted it. Obviously this is a moral abomination but it is also a practical and legal impossibility.

This will fundamentally upend so many families and destroy huge parts of the economy. Absolutely atrocious policy.

Sigh. Listen. To get ILR you have to go through a 5 year or 10 year process. Every 2.5 years you have to give the UK govt thousands of pounds. Then ILR application costs money and includes tests and fingerprinting and lawyers. And then only after can you apply for citizenship..which costs £££

It is already so costly and difficult to make it to the ILR stage. You've got to renew your visa twice before you can apply (if you're on the five year route)
