February is LGBT+ History Month, when we celebrate the long history of our community and take heart in the progress we've made. On February 1st, 1981 - 45 years ago this month - homosexuality was decriminalised in Scotland. We remember, and we will keep moving forward.

This vote is a positive step forward toward ending conversion practices not only in Scotland, but across Europe. We hope member states follow suit and enact their own legislation to protect LGBTQIA+ people and end these abusive practices.

This resolution calls for bans that are fully trans inclusive, cover all settings, and cover both attempts to change or suppress a person's sexual orientation or gender identity.

We are thrilled to see that the Parliament of the Council of Europe (PACE) has voted in favour of a resolution calling for member states to ban conversion practices.

On Holocaust Memorial Day we pause to remember the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis, and the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution. Together, we stand against the hatred of antisemitism.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers. This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.

We need you to stand up and speak out, now! Trans rights are vital and we need everyone to work together to protect them.

Allies: we need your support more than ever before. We know that many people are feeling shocked and angry following yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling and are looking for ways to get involved and support the trans community.

Our statement on the Supreme Court decision

As a staff team, we stand in solidarity with the trans community and are appalled by today’s judgement. We are working to read and process the judgement in full and will put out further information in the coming weeks.

We, just like the rest of the community, are disappointed and shocked. We are speaking with our colleagues while reading the ruling, and will have more to say soon. For now, we echo Scottish Trans’ sentiment – we know anxiety will be high, so don’t let any of today’s coverage induce panic.

We'd urge people not to panic - there will be lots of commentary coming out quickly that is likely to deliberately overstate the impact that this decision is going to have on all trans people's lives. We'll say more as soon as we're able to. Please look out for yourselves and each other today 💗🏳️‍⚧️
