Ten years ago, Scotland overwhelmingly voted to remain in the EU but was taken out against our will. Our best future lies in becoming an independent member state of the EU, and working with our neighbours to build a stronger, more prosperous country. 🇪🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Today I met members of Edinburgh’s Muslim community and heard directly from those affected by the appalling attacks. No one in Scotland should ever fear being targeted because of who they are. My government will always stand against those who seek to divide us.

On a personal level, I wish Keir Starmer and his family well. Leadership places extraordinary demands on those who serve, and on the families who support them. He has made the right decision, but what happens next must be about more than a change of Prime Minister.

More young people are moving into work, training, college or university after leaving school. The gap between those from the most and least deprived communities is narrowing. We're helping more young people succeed through free tuition, student support and more apprenticeships.

I have consistently made the case for Scotch Whisky to be exempt from US tariffs, and President Trump has committed to removing them. Now I’m in Kentucky to build on that progress, strengthen ties with the bourbon industry and back one of Scotland’s most iconic exports.

The proposed peace agreement between the US and Iran is a welcome step towards ending the war. Any deal must focus on securing a lasting peace, and must guarantee safe and toll-free passage through the Strait of Hormuz, easing the ongoing cost of living crisis.

BREAKING: Parliament backed our plans for a private jet tax and a mansion tax. In a cost of living crisis, it is right that those with the broadest shoulders contribute a bit more - while the majority of taxpayers in Scotland continue to pay less tax than elsewhere in the UK.

The number of NHS operations is up on the year before, according to latest statistics. Long waits are down for 11 months in a row, and we exceeded our target of 150,000 extra appointments and procedures. More to do, but this is good progress. Thank you to our NHS staff. 👏

We cannot let Westminster off the hook in their attempts to deny Scottish democracy. It is a fundamental right of people in Scotland to choose their future, and we must have that choice.

A majority in the Scottish Parliament has just backed our call to devolve energy powers to Scotland. We can’t afford being tied to the failed policies at Westminster. Scotland’s energy should work for Scotland - with the powers we need to help bring people’s bills down.

We are delivering the best cost of living support in the UK, and we will go further by capping bus fares and essential food prices. But as energy bills rise again, the UK Government must stop dithering and act now. And if they won't, devolve the energy powers so that we can.

Labour promised to cut energy bills, but in July they are rising again. People in energy-rich Scotland should not be paying some of the highest bills in Europe. Scotland should control its energy - and today we will vote to demand the devolution of energy powers to Holyrood.

We are ensuring more affordable homes are built across Scotland, and we will help more people buy a first home of their own. Our First Homes Fund will support first-time buyers with £10,000, with applications opening by the end of June. The SNP will always be on your side. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

People across Scotland will be deeply worried by another rise in energy bills announced today. We produce enormous amounts of energy, yet despite Labour’s promises to cut them, bills keep soaring. It’s time Scotland had control of Scotland’s energy.

The Scottish Parliament has just affirmed, by a clear majority, the right of people in Scotland to decide their constitutional future. This is democracy and it must be respected. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
