This is: 1. Deeply moving. 2. The first time I've ever seen a real-life astronaut be anything other than serious or happy in space. Obviously they have been (they're human), but folks on earth have only ever seen this in movies or on TV. Imagine watching your tears of grief float around you.

If you think marijuana can never be used safely - even under medical supervision - then you should talk to someone besides yourself cause tens of millions of people use it every day without incident. The system was never designed to protect Americans; it was just designed to subjugate certain groups

The sad thing is people have been writing for decades about the decline of the family, specifically citing how it's the decline of stable marriages among the poor that is the key problem, but nobody's sufficiently willing to fix it because it would mean giving money to black people

We pack a handful of folks into a tin can loaded with explosives. The computers are running Windows and the toilet is malfunctioning. We hurl them at a distant rock. Everything about where they are is deadly. And it is sublimely beautiful, one of the greatest things we’ve done as a species.

Reminds me of this within-living-memory era of American history: when white people would close down public pools to avoid having to share them with Black people. Harming ourselves and deliberately making life worse because of bigotry has pretty deep roots in our collective psyche.
