All the "is Miliband popular/competent/acceptable after losing 11 years ago" is missing the most crucial point: that the most dramatically satisfying ending is that the guy who lost the election after which everything went wrong comes back and fixes it all. Ask Chekov. Ask Aristotle

The one very important lesson from Wales and Scotland that should be read from these Senedd and Holyrood results is that explicitly progressive and left-wing politics is deeply deeply popular, extremely electable, and *the* only way to successfully stop Reform UK and the rise of fascism.

Sky News projecting a national vote share for Reform of 27%, based on results so far. That’s four points down on what they achieved in local elections last year. Somewhat of a counter to the prevailing narrative. More evidence that Reform appears to have peaked.

BBC News saying Reform have "come out of nowhere". No, they haven't. First they were UKIP, and then they were The Brexit Party, and with every incarnation, they've been amplified and boosted by the BBC, with Farage given record appearances on Question Time and other panel shows.

, stop saying that it's up to us to stop Reform. YOU could stop a Reform government in 2029, by introducing the proportional representation so many in the country have been clamouring for. The only way Farage can win is through our crazy first-past-the-post system.

Results so far: • We don't know much yet • Bad but not worst-case scenario for Labour • Good for Reform, but in line with polls • Too early to say much on Greens • Don't jump to conclusions on Lab/Reform switchers • These are bad results for Tories! Whatever they say! • We don't know much yet

Important data point here: “A sharp fall in Labour's performance is accompanied more often by an above average Green performance than it is by a strong Reform performance”. The Greens have already hurt Labour even before any direct gains.

This is the line EVERYONE needs to take. Art is art is art and the moment we budge on that is the moment they get the foot in the door to policing *everything*. Open a book. Read some history. Look at what's happening around us. Art* cannot hurt people — censorship absolutely can, has, and will.
