No disabled person should be forced to be changed on a toilet floor. Yet, due to a lack of Changing Places toilets, this is the reality for some people. We @libdems.org.uk are calling on the Government to deliver a properly funded, long‑term programme to ensure these toilets can be built.

One of my constituents was almost knocked over by an illegal e‑bike while cycling.🚲 These bikes are increasingly being ridden fast & dangerously, especially by riders in the gig economy. I asked the Transport Minister today: what steps are the Government taking to stop this reckless behaviour?

The EU’s Entry/Exit System has been a disaster — malfunctioning tech & huge queues are causing misery for travellers & costly disruption for hauliers. During school holidays it will only get worse. The Government must agree urgent measures with the EU to protect travellers. Another Brexit failure.

Violent attacks on emergency department staff in England almost doubled from 2019–24. I discussed this alarming rise in abuse with the @rcem.ac.uk Healthcare workers deserve to be thanked, not threatened, at work. We need to take a zero‑tolerance approach to this violence.

1 in 10 YouTube videos recommended to children contain eating disorder content. That's down from 1 in 4 before the Online Safety Act: proof platforms can reduce harm when forced. But 1 in 10 is still too many. We can't let algorithms continue pushing starvation diets & 'thinspiration' to children.

No woman should fear that a night out will end with her being secretly filmed and posted online to face abuse. That's why I’m fighting to make nightlife filming a specific criminal offence.📸 We must stamp out these vile and degrading videos.

Our political system is broken, with people increasingly feeling ignored. Introducing proportional representation offers a chance to fix this by giving everyone an equal vote in our democracy. Burnham must seize this chance to create a system whereby no party can afford to take voters for granted.

Stores like Primark bring huge economic & employment benefits to our city. And it's important to have access to affordable fashion. But we need to ensure this doesn't come at the expense of fair working practices & sustainability. I visited Primark Bath to find out how they are tackling this.

Dorothy House’s Bereavement Help Point gives people a space to connect with others who are grieving. No one should have to face loss alone. I pushed the Government to recognise that support like this shouldn't be a “nice to have” but an essential part of trauma care.

The Government's plans for a UK‑wide Deposit Return Scheme next year will transform how we recycle single‑use drinks containers made from plastic, aluminium & steel - & glass in Wales. All funded by the drinks industry.♻️ We must ensure businesses & consumers are aware of this big & positive change.

Illegal vapes - including ones laced with the dangerous drug Spice - are being sold online with impunity, often bought by children. The Home Office can’t just target high‑street sales, it must tackle online sellers too. Otherwise, we're not solving the problem, we're simply pushing sales online.

Thames Water has let customers down time & again. We need tougher regulations to stop water companies siphoning off big profits, end the scandalous pollution of our rivers & force private operators to step aside if they won’t follow the rules. If they won’t clean up their act, we must make them.

In Parliament, I celebrated RUH Bath's role supporting pioneering research to speed up endometriosis diagnosis & spare women invasive surgery. Women typically wait over 9 years for a diagnosis. I’m glad the Leader of the House joined me in celebrating the RUH & agreed these wait times must be cut.

Fewer than 2% of the UK’s MPAs for cetaceans & seabirds are fully protected from bottom trawling - a shocking finding from Oceana UK’s new Trawled & Mauled report. Bottom trawling is devastating marine life in areas meant to be safe. We must ban this horrifying practice in protected waters.🌊

Last night, I sponsored the Net Zero Week Reception in Parliament. Despite the impact of climate change intensifying before our eyes, Trump & the petro‑states are ripping up their climate commitments.🌿 We must work closer with Europe to drive the international action needed to tackle this crisis.

Measures to tackle gambling addiction, though well-intentioned, have pushed more betting into the black market. This unregulated space puts punters at greater risk. It’s time we treated gambling addiction as a public health issue & pursued other reforms to support the horse racing industry.🏇

It was great to hear the Institution of Engineering & Technology committed to the green hydrogen revolution. Scaling up our production of green hydrogen will allow chemical companies to create zero‑carbon plastics, resins & fuels. These materials are essential to building a greener future.

Deregulation is often sold as the key to growth, but it must not weaken the protections that keep consumers safe. Because without trust, no industry can grow. As the Financial Services & Markets Bill progresses, we must ensure it preserves consumer protections.

Today I attended the launch of the Revenge Porn Helpline's Annual Report. Since 2015, the helpline has reported 450,000 intimate images of which 90% were removed. Recently, we've seen generative AI fuel the rise of non‑consensual image sharing. As this tech evolves, our protections must also.

It’s time we put Farage’s finances under a microscope. His failure to declare significant funding received from a convicted criminal & crypto-gambler undermines people's trust & confidence in Parliament. That’s why we @libdems.org.uk have referred him to the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner.

On the eve of the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence, the American Museum in Bath is celebrating the occasion in its beautiful grounds. Always worth a visit! It’s also currently exhibiting one of the few original copies of the Declaration.

I met with British Land, owner of SouthGate Bath, and the Shopkeepers’ Campaign to discuss the impact on retail of recent business rates hikes. We need reform to create a fairer system and promote investment and growth. Couldn’t resist popping in to the iconic My Small World while I was there too!

Meta has teamed up with Kylie Jenner to try make their AI smart glasses stylish. These glasses are increasingly being used to film women without their knowledge or consent, with these often degrading or sexualised videos then posted online. These aren’t fashion. They’re a threat.

This Autumn, arts organisations, libraries & museums can apply to join the Arts Council’s 2028–2033 National Portfolio, which will provide them with multi‑year funding to help them innovate & grow. Applicant guidance will be shared in September. In the meantime, please explore the opportunity.👇

Amazon’s Regional Creatives Fund is now open for applications! It offers grants to charities that help people gain the skills they need to pursue a career in the creative industries. The 2025 fund has already helped 40 charities train over 4,000 people. Apply by the 2nd of August.👇

As part of the Parliamentary AI training I visited a new data centre today. Operating data centres is complex. They need a highly trained workforce & lots of energy. The cost of energy is an important factor where these data centres go, but we must keep the opportunities and jobs here in the UK.

Portage has seen demand soar for their SEND support. With referrals up 63% in the past year and waitlists across all their services, many families are missing out on vital pre‑school help. If the Government wants to fix the SEND system, it must back the brilliant work charities like Portage do.

While people are being crushed by the cost‑of‑living crisis, Nigel Farage is raking in the cash. 💵 £5 million reward for Brexit. 💵 £500k for promoting gold. 💵 £100k for cameo videos. All the while failing to do his actual job: representing the people of Clacton.

Eating disorders cost the UK £9.4 billion a year, yet only receive 1% of the mental health research budget. We’re spending heavily on the consequences instead of learning how to prevent these illnesses & intervene earlier. I’ve signed this letter calling for greater investment in research.👇

Tesco has provided 500 schools with over 15.7 million portions of free fruit & veg since October 2024. Their fantastic programme helps thousands of children get more of their 5‑a‑day. It’s great to hear that from September, the programme will expand to over 1,000 schools!

Between 2017 and 2024, over 4,000 greyhounds died or were put to sleep and more than 35,000 injuries were recorded across the racing industry. No animal should have to suffer for sport. Thank you to @animalaid.org.uk for meeting with me to discuss how we can put an end to this cruelty.

Food waste produces 4x more emissions than the entire aviation industry. I met @thefelixproject.bsky.social in Parliament to hear how they're taking surplus food & delivering it to communities. In Bath, they've helped serve 242,156 meals - every one made from food that would have gone to waste.

When I raised the issue of nightlife filming in Parliament, the Government pointed to their work on non-consensual intimate images & deepfakes. But nightlife videos are different: unlike other online abuse, they fall into a legal grey area making prosecution hard. I’m fighting to change this.

The recent heatwave - & the chaos & danger it brought - was a stark warning of what happens when climate change goes unopposed. As the climate warms, droughts, heatwaves & floods will only become more frequent & destructive. The threat to our planet is severe, & without action it will only grow.
