What I would add is that the parts of the left that are more organized tend to be less susceptible to this sort of cult of personality than people for whom being on “the left” means listening to podcasts instead of paying dues to DSA, a local activist group, or a progressive-militant union.

I'm not really worried that the backlash to Platner is going to endanger our ability to give folks second chances, because at no point did that man seem like he earnestly felt he was on his second chance. He made it pretty clear at every turn he thought he was still living large on his first one.

What we already know is horrific. Imagine how bad discovery would be if the government is willing to pay our fees (something the government doesn’t readily do) just to avoid it.
