There are a bunch of fake pictures of protests among my friend networks on other sites. They are really, obviously AI, but I understand how in all the pressures at the moment you can see it, have a feeling, and hit share. Instead: go to local news. Here’s my outlet I write for. There are others.

I don't want to kinkshame (I am lying, I want to kinkshame putting hooters on the Animal Crossing dog) but if you have a comical sex hangup and you also intend to be very public with it, please develop a thick enough skin that you don't utterly melt down over "why though"

I’ve noticed that “public figure” gets tossed around a bit here. Been referred to as such myself. Perhaps the label has lost whatever meaning it once had? Just because I have some bylines and post on a microblogging site does not making me Fareed Zakaria.

half-baked thought: the vibes on tumbleweed bluesky are rancid because, unlike on twitter/x, there's no one with true power and influence to attack: Republicans, tech titans, oil lobbyists etc. Bluesky doesn't have such people, which is a problem when users still want a target. And so *gestures*...

raising money on bluesky was always going to be a heavy lift because many people on here hate the idea of paying for media.

With the benefit of a couple of years worth of data, I think it’s clear that the smart alternative to being Twitter wasn’t switching to bluesky—it was getting the hell off social media entirely.

It was amazing to watch the journalists who built this tool at work. Months and months of painstaking effort, careful reporting behind every decision. It's the kind of work that ProPublica does best.

And how well I recall the resonance of the term "unindicted coconspirator" as it was applied to Richard Nixon by that 1974 grand jury. Also excellent, to be sure: "expletive deleted."

The term is meant to specify that one is involved in the same conspiracy as another conspirator, as opposed, I guess, to my being in one conspiracy and you in another.

2025 was by far the strongest year ever for novels by trans writers from major publishers -- and that's before you get down to smaller presses and self-published stuff, which were also cooking. God, I hope it sustains in 2026 and beyond. A lot of these books sold well! The audience is there!
