Earl Lamont Smith was convicted of stealing thousands of government computers and selling them for profit. He pleaded guilty and waived his right to a trial. Trump pardoned him on May 28, 2025.

Took me too long to realise that TikTok karaoke (words in the closed captioning highlighted as they're pronounced) serves the same purpose as a kid's finger tracking on a printed page. People are functionally illiterate.

Who was President in 2020 is simply impossible to answer. also say what you will about Biden, but the last two Republican Presidents are Trump and W, I don’t think on his worst least defensible actions he gets anywhere close to their idiocy

Read Jim's whole thread! I also want to add some historical context. During the 1918 pandemic, there was so much confusion because many scientists still thought that a bacteria, not a virus caused the flu (because, as Jim notes, we couldn't even see viruses under a microscope yet).

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy

By any reasonable historical standard — including that of the technology industry! — ChatGPT should be pulled from the market and its product managers and executives held accountable for creating a product that ROUTINELY tells teens to kill themselves. This is a basic, common sense standard.

Immigration is incredible because it's one of the few policy areas where people are willing to suffer real, concrete consequences in order to solve completely imaginary problems.

I just taught my lecture course on mid-20th c US history, which starts with Harding and concludes with Nixon. For the first time, I had to pause and stress that those scandals were actually shocking at the time and, what’s more, that Americans actually demanded people be held accountable.

It’s pretty wild that the most rabidly anti-immigrant administration in recent memory is comprised of a President married to an immigrant, a VP married to the daughter of immigrants, an assistant AG in charge of Civil Rights who’s an immigrant (Dhillon), & it was all funded by an immigrant (Musk).

This is the key part. Only Christian Americans are allowed to confidently proclaim the truth of their beliefs, if anyone else does it they’re trying to “ram their beliefs down your throat.”
