Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson issued an administrative stay in the SNAP benefits case. She had to do this—it’s procedure. The First Circuit has to issue its ruling on the stay request (“with dispatch”.) It ends in 48hrs.

I’m not sure, but I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on this one. She’s never given me a reason to doubt her decency, and I suspect this will turn out the same.

It sounds like it was Justice Jackson that issued the temporary stay, so I’m assuming it’s just procedural to allow the appeals process to play out. I’m guessing here, but I imagine this will be expedited.

I think I am fully up to speed on both appeals, and I have no idea if USDA has actually cleared the procedural hurdles that were showing partial SNAP payments. If not, all of this is going on while the government is not complying with the unchallenged district court order.
