It was great to meet with some interns and volunteers from the San Diego Chapter of UNA-USA to discuss global issues, including fighting the climate crisis and ending the atrocities and humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

Trump canceled the grant that helped fund Loma Elementary’s Parent Empowerment Program, which offers support and coaching for parents with kids struggling with behavioral challenges at school. I’m so glad I could see their invaluable work, and I will work to restore this funding.

Trump’s tariffs are hurting our economy – costing our families thousands of extra dollars per year and costing thousands of jobs per month.

Travel and tourism support thousands of local workers and families. So I was glad to join a roundtable with business leaders and officials from the U.S. Travel Association and San Diego Tourism Authority about the challenges they’re facing, from infrastructure to visa issues.

Urban Street Angels provides housing and support for youth experiencing homelessness in San Diego. I visited their La Mesa office again to see their incredible work on the ground.

Over the past year, Head Start programs like Neighborhood House Association in San Diego have faced a barrage of threats and attacks on funding from the Trump Administration. I won’t stop fighting to protect access to affordable early education and child care.

Fraud in the care economy is nowhere near the epidemic levels that some conspiracy theorists suggest. That’s why I was glad to visit ARCC Center Foundation, which connects kids with developmental disabilities to respite workers, to hear about their work and auditing requirements.

I visited Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish’s Pope Francis Center, which offers legal aid, spiritual guidance, and mental health services for immigrants and families. As a proud immigrant and border community, we will continue to stand against violence from ICE and Border Patrol.

In only the first 9 months of the Trump Administration, there was a sevenfold increase in ICE arrests of people with zero criminal convictions. They’re not going after criminals. They’re not going after the “worst of the worst.”

We know the names of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. But 6 others were killed by ICE or died in their custody this year: Luis Gustavo Núñez Cáceres, Geraldo Lunas Campos, Víctor Manuel Díaz, Parady La, Luis Beltrán Yáñez–Cruz, and Heber Sánchez Domínguez. They deserve justice.

Americans are deeply concerned about affording education, housing, health care, and having a family. And now, they have to worry about Trump sending lethal immigration forces into their communities. Trump is making everyday life harder and scarier.

Last year, at least 32 people died in ICE custody. That same year, nearly every Republican voted to give ICE an extra $75 billion. ICE shouldn’t get a penny more – and I’m fighting to claw back that money.

In the 70s, the DOJ sued Donald Trump for housing discrimination when his properties consistently rented to white applicants but turned away people of color who applied. So no, I’m not shocked that Donald Trump still wants to make housing more inaccessible and only for the rich.

5-year-old Génesis is an American citizen; ICE deported her to Honduras anyway. Detaining and deporting kids is horrific and cruel and fails to make us any safer. Bring her home now.
