One happy realization over the past day of wins is that this site can be a place where political magic happens. This comes as a shock to folks on other sites who say we are in a filter bubble. Makes it all the more important that non-billionare controlled spaces exist. Media diversity matters.

this is very cool: Kodak quietly relisted Kodak Gold and Ultramax on its website and confirmed to me it is selling the films directly to photography stores again. this is a big deal because for the last decade, Kodak has not controlled distribution of its own film

irony of working for this platform now is that I am reluctant to post a bunch of inflammatory stuff about baseball. I am a dual citizen and live in LA and don’t like Toronto as a city but in either event am a Mets fan and think it would be nice for the Jays to win but maybe not until tomorrow.

video upscaling is a perfectly good use of AI but it will look terrible if they try to go from a standard definition source to 1080p+ — can get a much more convincing result from AI upscaling to 720p or so and then adding a shader grain pass from there

Also new in v1.109: custom feed operators now receive more interaction events. If you run a custom feed, now you'll know when people like, quote, repost, reply, and see posts in your feed. All valuable signals that can help you drive higher-quality recommendations in your feeds.
