iOS build v1.0.0+24 adds a new photo library screen accessible from the app drawer. If you upload photos with the toggle to include metadata you should see your photos organized by date. This is currently read only but we'll add more functionality soon. That's all! Have a nice weekend 🏔️

Grain is leveling up! 🌟 📚 👾 ⬆️ We just added rich text support (hashtags, links, mentions) to profiles, galleries, and comments. You can mention other users in gallery descriptions and comments and they will get a notification. You can also add tags which help make the galleries more discoverable.

Gallery comments are live! You can now leave comments on a gallery or on individual photos. You can also reply to others and get notified when someone responds. All comments, whether for the gallery or its photos, are shown in one place so it’s easier to keep track of the conversation.

Timeline speed enhanced

We pushed an update to the timeline to include favorites and now it takes a bit longer to load. We have a fix in the works that should make it snappy. 🫰

Bunch of UX updates rolled out today! You can now upload directly to galleries making it easier to get started. Also styling updates across the board. Borders are more roundy, better secondary buttons, and we now have 3/4 aspect ratio grids on the profile page (instagram vibes). 👉 grain.social 📸

Launching EXIF support today! There's a new checkbox on the uploads page that enables parsing of photo metadata. We parse a small set tags from the Exif 2.3 standard instead of everything to keep it simple. We don't parse location data and the raw file is stripped on upload.

Important update to favorites! We now show all your favorites on your profile page (only for you) and removed the extra favorite posts from the timeline. Now you can keep track of them all in the one place and have a little more privacy when favoriting things. Happy Graining!

@grain.social is pretty cool! works quite well and i like how it is completely separate from my bluesky timeline and doesnt clutter my profile

Just pushed out update to the home page! There's now two feed options: Timeline and Following. Timeline is all gallery creations and favs, and the following tab filters that down to only people you follow. The follow graph in Grain is the same as Bluesky.
