It's not perfect yet but the loading shimmer exits earlier by loading a really low quality static of the gif until the original is ready Obviously when the media is actually cached by the cdn or browser both the shimmer and sometimes the preview can just be skipped over

I have a million complaints with ATProto but this thread with people saying it's majorly centralised is kind of strange I've built an entire app using entirely my own code and infra... how is that centralised? I run everything but the PDS and bsky has no sway over what I'm indexing Like wha?
