One thing I appreciate about Chicago is the relative lack of “Real Chicagoan” discourse.

Another cyclist was just doored in front of Riley O'Neil's memorial on Halsted Street. This happened about one hour ago. The cyclist declined medical treatment from the ambulance and rode away. Unfucking real. You can see the broken car window on the driver's door.

Chicago’s “mini mayor” system needs to end. Alders should not have the power to block critical street safety infrastructure in their wards.

One of the first things I noticed after moving to Chicago from NYC was that it’s so much easier to find a bike rack in Chicago. To learn that the cyclist killed yesterday was responsible for the ubiquitousness of Chicago bike parking…this is just so sad 💜

Maybe there should be a limited number of drivers licenses, like taxi medallions. I'd trade mine in if I didn't need it for my government ID.

During my junior year of university, I lived off campus about 5 minutes away by car. One day I decided to walk instead. A friend driving by saw me walking and pulled over to ask if I was okay.

Anyone have any advice about getting into BMX or like freestyle? Like, suuuuper beginner, I can't even do a wheelie on my single speed at the moment. I just keep having dreams about doing bike tricks so I think my brain is trying to tell me something.

I’m trying to have more “be” verbs in my writing. I’m aiming for more prepositions to end my sentences with. I’m embracing “bad” writing because I hope it sends a signal that I wrote what I wrote.

I love HTML, but... HTML email was a humanity-level mistake. What could've just been plain text instead requires a browser to open and read. So much time spent on designing, debugging, sending, troubleshooting everything around HTML emails.

People get cynical about politics when they get told there's no money for anything they want... and then when they get something pretty minor... the reactionaries can undo it without having to justify the spending.

Apropos of nothing at all: Quality is the integral of process + culture over time. Destroying, or carelessly disrupting, either one is an existential brand risk, and thermostatic responses which do not rebuild process and culture are doomed to fail.
